Max needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
Max is a male purebred Great Pyrenees, about 4.5 – 5 years old, a big boy who was the guardian for a flock of fancy show chickens until his owner died unexpectedly. Since coming to our place, he has guarded goats. Max has always lived outside, although in his first foster home he could go in and out of the house at will. He behaves well in the house, usually napping inside during the middle of the day, then going back outside to be “on duty” after twilight. Max loves to swim, so if you have a pond Max would be very happy! His right eye was injured and had abscessed before a family member of the deceased noticed. She took him to the vet and couldn’t afford to treat the eye, so she looked for rescue. We took him in to our rescue and took him straight to our vet, who said the eye was beyond saving. She removed it, cleaned and treated the socket, and stitched up the eyelids. It really doesn’t seem to bother Max, other than the fact that he can be startled if anyone approaches from the right, especially while he’s napping.
