Great Pyrenees / Golden Retriever (long coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Adult : : X-Large
Pacino was picked up by animal control in rural East Texas after being hit by a car. He had visible head injuries, and was bleeding profusely from the mouth. Thankfully, with care first from the vet in East Texas and later by our vet, he has made a full recovery. Pacino is very sweet and affectionate with people. He is sometimes fearful of new experiences, and we wonder if he might have previously encountered people who were less than kind to him. He gets along well with other dogs after proper introductions, but needs to know that his food, treats, and toys are going to be respected. He was protective of everything when he first arrived in his foster home, but in time he learned that it's OK to share. We suspect that when he moves into a new home, there will be a period of adjustment while he learns to trust his new people and any canine companions. Pacino is very calm and sensitive to the feelings of the humans around him. He handled the excitement of family gatherings during the holidays very well, including a visit with grandma's little dog, of whom Pacino grew quite fond. He also was very gentle and intuitive around a family member on the autism spectrum, who had a difficult time handling the holiday excitement. His upset did not turn into Pacino's upset, and for a dog in a new environment, that was very impressive. Pacino has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, so he is ready to find his forever home.
