Gemini came to us along with Castor and Pollux. We're pretty sure that Castor and Pollux are brothers/littermates. We're not sure whether Gemini is their sister, or just a companion who joined them on their adventures. They had been roaming around in East Texas and stopped for a little while at a ranch with sheep and their guardians before being picked up and brought to our ranch. Gemini is great with our goats and sheep. We haven't tested her with chickens yet, but her companions Castor and Pollux have both done really well with chickens, so we're hopeful the same will be true of Gemini. Gemini is young, but has a dominant personality. She thinks she should be top dog wherever she goes. She gets along with other dogs as long as they accept her as leader. If another dog tries to challenge her perceived superiority, Gemini will put the dog in his place. We have seen her get challenged (at different times) by two different big male LGDs, and in both cases, Gemini was able to take the male dog to the ground with a minimum of effort. It almost looked like play, but we think Gemini was serious in convincing the other dogs that she's the boss. Accordingly, we think she will do best either as a solo LGD on a small homestead, or with a young male dog who is happy to accept her as top dog. Gemini played very nicely with the Pyr mix puppies we had earlier this summer, so she could also go to a home with a male puppy.
