Great Pyrenees (long coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Large
Martina came from a farm in rural Kansas where someone had a few LGDs guarding their goats and chickens, and they didn't get their dogs spayed/neutered, so the natural result was breeding and proliferation. When the owners reached out for help, their local rescue couldn't handle the large number of dogs in need, and since these dogs have experience with livestock, that rescue reached out to us. Like most of the dogs on that property, Martina was never socialized much with people and was never introduced to a leash. Martina has been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative), and microchipped. After a few months in our care, she trusts us and is getting used to a leash. She's still a bit shy on meeting new people, but she has made a lot of progress. Martina does well with our Nigerian Dwarf goats and respects our longhorn cattle enough to leave them alone. She gets along well with other dogs, but not surprisingly, does better with male dogs than female. If you are interested in meeting Martina, visit our website to read about our adoption process, and submit your application: https://www.bluebonnetanimalrescue.org/info/adoption
