Great Pyrenees / Anatolian Shepherd (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : X-Large
When local rescuers in Central Texas first saw Beauty, she was hiding under a trailer. They visited her daily for a couple of weeks, feeding her and offering her tasty treats to earn her trust. Once they were able to lure her out from hiding, they put a leash on her and brought her to our vet, where she was spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Beauty gets along with other dogs, though she can be a little bit dominant at feeding time. We've never seen any aggression -- she just seems to stare down other dogs to convince them to step away from their food bowl. So we supervise meal times inside the barn to be sure that each dog gets their own portion. Beauty is usually the first dog to finish, and as soon as she does, we put her back in the pasture so she doesn't have a chance to intimidate any of the others. Beauty lives in the pasture with our goats and has also been exposed to our chickens and longhorns She's still a bit shy on meeting new people, but she is learning that humans aren't all as scary as the first few she knew before being rescued.
