Bette grew up on a small farm guarding goats, and when her elderly owner could no longer take care of the farm, the goats were sold and Bette was surrendered to us. She is a very sweet girl who is perfectly safe with goats and chickens, but she has decided that she prefers living inside the house. She is house/potty-trained and crate-trained.

Bette gets along well with other dogs of all sizes, and is playful with most dogs. She loves people but isn't annoying about asking for so much attention that she seems needy.

Bette DOES need secure fencing, and if you leave her outside unattended too much, she may get bored and try to dig under or climb over the fence. The best solution (other than 6' or taller fencing) -- just don't leave her in the yard and ignore her. Make her part of your family, whether that's inside the house or when you're enjoying your back yard.

NOTE: You'll see one close-up photo of Bette with stitches on her muzzle. When she was still living in the pasture as a livestock guardian, she showed up one day in a different pasture (still on our property) and she had a cut on her muzzle. We believe she got the cut from digging under the fence, but it's possible she snagged it going over rather than under. Either way, that was our cue to move her from the pasture to the house.

Overall, Bette is a great dog and easy to have around. If she sounds like the perfect companion for you, please read about our adoption process and requirements, and submit your application on our website at www.bluebonnetrescue.org/info/adoption.
