Great Pyrenees (long coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Large
Martina & Melissa came from a farm in rural Kansas where someone had a few LGDs guarding their goats and chickens, and they didn't get their dogs spayed/neutered, so the natural result was breeding and proliferation. When the owners reached out for help, their local rescue couldn't handle the large number of dogs in need, and since these dogs have experience with livestock, that rescue reached out to us. Martina and Melissa -- like most of the dogs on that property -- were never socialized much with people and were never introduced to a leash. We decided to name the girls in honor of two Kansas natives, Melissa Etheridge and Martina McBride. Both girls have now been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested (both negative), and microchipped. After a few weeks in our care, they have started to trust us and are getting used to a leash.
