Guinness was a stout puppy who has grown into an extremely handsome young adult. He's not afraid to get dirty when he plays -- he never met a mud puddle he didn't love. He also loves attention from his human family, but isn't needy about demanding it, at least not any more than ANY pup is needy and demanding, which is, well, kind of a lot most days.
Guinness and his siblings were born on 4/30/2014 at Windsong Ranch, the home of Bluebonnet Animal Rescue. His mom Ginger was surrendered to us by a goat rancher who let her get pregnant then didn't want to deal with the results. He threatened to shoot her, figuring that one bullet would take care of Ginger AND all her puppies. Thankfully, the rancher's daughter convinced him to surrender the VERY pregnant dog to rescue. We picked her up on Saturday, and on Wednesday, Ginger delivered a BIG litter of puppies.
The great thing about this story is that these puppies have been loved from the moment they were born, and have been given good food and veterinary care to give them the best possible start a rescue pup could ever hope to have. Guinness and his siblings have had a full series of puppy shots, along with monthly wormer and heartworm prevention. They have all been spayed/neutered and microchipped and are ready to find their forever homes.
At 7.5 months old, Guinness weighed 74 LBs, so we expect he could weigh close to 90 LBs by the time he's fully grown. We were told that his mother is half Great Pyrenees, and we're not sure about his dad -- based on Guinness's good looks and coloring, we're guessing his dad could have been an Anatolian Shepherd, but that's just speculation on our part. Guinness has double dew-claws on his back feet, which is a trait of both Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd dogs.
